30th Sep 05 - Twenty 'Fit 4 Employment' graduates 'buckle down' to start new jobs at Esh Group


Hard Work at School rewarded with permanent jobs

Twenty students have taken up new jobs at Esh Group having completed the Group’s much acclaimed ‘Fit for Employment’ work-related learning training programme and gained the necessary school qualifications.   Each has enrolled on the Modern Apprenticeship scheme as part of their new job at an Esh Group company:

Private house builder, Dunelm Castle Homes is employing:
David Taylor, Callam Godfrey and Carl Jackson to train as joiners
Paul Hopps, Philip Green and Anthony Jordan to train as bricklayers

Dunelm Property Services, the social housing builder, is employing:
Paul Haywood to train as a joiner
Jonathan Rochford to train as a bricklayer
Jonathan Blakey to train as a plasterer
Richard Northey to train as a estimator

Mechplant + Dunelm Property Services are employing:
Gail Collins to train in administration

Civil engineering and construction company, Lumsden & Carroll is employing:
Craig Coates, Stephen Thompson, Jamie Winn, Mark Burden positions as  trainee Site Engineers
Kevin Carr and Karl Hodgson the opportunity to train as ground workers

Deerness Fencing, fencing manufacturers and installers is employing:
Brett Barker to train as Welder / Fabrication Shop Operative
Stephen Graham to train as Quantity Surveyor

And Tonni Robson joins the Administration team at Esh Group headquarters.
Phil Young, Technical & Customer Services Director at Esh Group, who is responsible for the Fit for Employment programme said;

‘We are delighted to welcome the second group of graduates from Fit for Employment.  These students have worked hard and have really earned their new jobs.   They can see how their colleagues who joined us last year have started to develop and really settled in to become part of the team.  What better way to prove to them that if they ‘buckle down’ they will get on in life?’

Esh Group has been singled out to become the National Example of Excellence for the innovative “Fit for Employment” programme.  The Group recently hosted a briefing, organised for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister by BiTC, for leaders of some of the North East’s biggest firms at which they shared their experiences of setting up and running the programme.
